Is a Blue Russian the Right Cat for You?

Cats make wonderful companions but you need to make sure it’s the right cat for you first. Cats have different traits and different personalities, some which may not work for you and your lifestyle. Blue Russian cats make a great match for families with older children, first time cat owners and single people or couples with work schedules.
The Blue Russian cat weighs in around 12 pounds or so and that is a healthy weight for them. They have a blue-ish coat that’s very soft. Blue Russian cats are very playful and affectionate but it takes a while for them to warm up to new comers. This breed is very intelligent and independent, like many other cats. If you have another pet in your home, they usually have no problem warming up to them.
These cats can be high maintenance when it comes to their litter box. They like it clean at all times so it’s important to stay on top of that, if you don’t they may go elsewhere in the house. Blue Russians aren’t known to be very vocal so they are more on the quiet side. They take to training pretty well too so with all this being said, they make great pets.
If you choose to bring one of these cats into your home without making sure you can meet their needs first and give them the proper cat care they deserve and require, it can be a very traumatic experience for them if you have to get rid of them or you end up neglecting them in some way or another. This goes with any animal you decide to welcome into the family.
